Car Window Tinting Step By Step

Car window tinting comes with a number of advantages: blocks most of the UVA and UVB rays, reduces interior heat, protects the dash and upholstery from fading, reduces glare, increases privacy, among many other things.

For you to tint your car, you can do the work by yourself or hire a professional to help you out. When tinting the windows by yourself, you need to follow a set of steps that include:

Step 1: Clean the windows

Everything begins here. There is no way that the tinting film will stick on your windows if you don’t clean them as properly as you are supposed to. For you to give them a clean look, you should use a professional window cleaning solution.

Use a squeegee to give the windows a spotless look and get rid of any dirt that might be on the windows. If you have confidence in your skills and feel that you won’t damage the windows, use a razor blade to scrape any leftover residues that might be there.

When cleaning, ensure that you remove everything as leaving any particles on the surface will lead to unsightly, damaging, and unprofessional bubbles.

Step 2: Take the measurements

After cleaning the windows, you need to measure the area that needs to be tinted and cut the tinting film. For you to do it you need to unroll the window film onto the insides of the window then cut the film according to the size of the window.

When cutting the film, remember to leave at least an inch on both sides of the window. This is to ensure that you get a complete coverage.

Step 3: Trim the tinting film

After you have cut the size that you need, your next step should be trim it. When doing it, use a sharp object so that you don’t damage the film. When trimming, move the film so that it protrudes just a quarter of an inch below the top of the inside casket. You should start with the vertical edge then move to the top of the glass.

Step 4: Apply the tinting film

With the different tinting pieces in place, film to your car. The best way of going about it is using the solution that came with the film and spray it on the windows. You should then take the liner off the film and expose it to the adhesive solution.

Once you have exposed the film to the adhesive, slightly roll the window down then carefully move the film onto the glass with the adhesive side down. Carefully slide the film from the bottom towards the top of the car.

Once in place, use a squeegees to press the film from the middle, working your way out. The purpose of doing this is to smoothen out any bubbles and wrinkles that might be in place. For ideal results, apply the pressure on the film until you physically feel it clinging to the glass.

If there are any leftover suds, water, or bubbles, push them towards the edge of the window. Once you are done, wrap the squeegee with a towel then blot it away.

Tips to consider when tinting the car

For you to get the most with car tinting, you should use the right tinting film. One thing you should note is that there are plenty of tinting films in the market you can go for. Buy high quality films that will not only last for a long time, but also be easy to install.

As mentioned above, you can install the tinting film by yourself or hire auto window tinting Springfield professionals to help you out. It’s always wise that you hire a professional instead of doing it by yourself.

This is because you risk leaving a lot of bubbles on the film, spending a lot of time doing the work, getting frustrated especially if you don’t know how to do it, among many other things.

When hiring the installation professional, ensure that he/she is experienced enough. The contractor should also be certified to work in your local area.
